Charles Elden Shingleton

Meeker resident Charles Elden Shingleton, 68, passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2018 in Shawnee.Elden, was born on July 30, 1949 in Stillwater, to Knox and Mary Ruth (Armitage) Shingleton. He graduated from Harrah High School and then attended Okmulgee Technical School where he became a certified diesel mechanic. Elden completed his school and went to work for Cummins Diesel in Oklahoma City, he would stay with Cummins for 38 years. Elden enjoyed driving his dune buggy and going to Lake Eufaula. His favorite pastime however was tinkering in his shop. He enjoyed it so much in fact that he had a shop at his lake house and spent the majority of his lake time in his shop at his lake house. Elden married Jan Cossey on May 31, 2008. Elden’s parents and grandparents preceded him in death.He is survived by his wife, Jan; his children, Dacia Kallin, and Patrick and Jon Boggs and their families; cousins, Garey and Betty Wright, Peggy and Randy Cullison, Karen and Eddie Fowler, Mike and Martha Armitage, Mark and Lisa Armitage, and Mitchell and LeAnn Armitage; his aunt, Joan Hubbell; and many other family and friends.Services for Elden will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 17 at the Walker Funeral Chapel in Shawnee with Pastor Joe Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Rossville Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Walker Funeral Service.
