Shawnee resident Clyde L. “Bub” Cowan, 70, passed away Thursday, October 18, 2018 in Edmond, Oklahoma.Clyde was born May 2, 1948 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to Kenneth G. Cowan and Rozanne (Greenlee) Cowan. He was raised by his grandmother, Mattie Greenlee. He graduated from Shawnee High School in 1966. Bub then served in the United States Marine Corps. from 1966 to 1970. He worked for George Ing’s Mandarin Gardens in Shawnee, and also operated Cowan’s Casuals with his brother. In 1978, he went to work as a supervisor for General Motors at the Oklahoma City and Fort Wayne Assembly Plants, retiring in 2017. His enjoyments included martial arts, coaching softball/baseball, assisting with Boy Scout activities, yardwork, and spending time with his grandchildren and family.Bub was preceded in death by his parents, grandmother: Mattie Greenlee, brother: Johnny Mack Cowan, aunt and uncle: Roy and Ruth Greenlee, aunt: Virginia “Sister” Russ, and a cousin: Mike Russ.He is survived by 4 Children: Joshua Cowan and fiancée Amy Perkins of Shawnee,Jacob Cowan and wife Kacia of Houston, TX,Courtney Cowan of Shawnee,Kayley Cowan of Shawnee,2 Grandchildren: Bentley Cowan and Aiden Cowan,Brother: Jackie Don Cowan of TN,Sister-in-law: Marcia Cowan of Shawnee,Uncle: Porter Russ of AL,And several cousins, other family members and friends.Memorial services will be at New Beginnings Church, 1203 E 42nd St., Shawnee, at 10:00am on Thursday, Oct. 25.
