Denise Shawn Lasley

Denise Shawn Lasley, 50, (or as she would say…half a century old), made her journey peacefully on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at Integris Baptist Medical Center.

She was born January 13, 1973 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to Charles D. Lasley and Barbara Pennock.  She attended public and graduate schools in surrounding areas.  She graduated from Culinary Arts in Texas, was Certified in Home Health and Nursing, was a Certified Mechanic, and graduate of Vatterott College.  She used her many talents in all ways. She would cook and feed the less fortunate. If your vehicle needed a “fixin”, she would lend a helping hand and never asked for anything in return. If you needed an uplifting, she had a way of doing that by taking a silly photo for you.  Everyone that knew her, knew she was a character. Shawn never married….she just snagged a few of her friends….but everyone knew her main squeeze was Shelly.

She was preceded in death by her mother: Barbara Pennock, grandparents: Genevieve  and William Pennock, Charles Oscar Lasley and Sarah Thompson, and a brother: Charley Lasley.

She is survived by 2 children: Dakota Lasley of Shawnee, and Kirstie Lasley of OKC, 5 grandchildren: Kallina, Kendrick, Kashis, Ava, and Sadie, siblings: Angela, Dawn Lasley of OKC, Stephanie Lasley of Shawnee, Jennifer Lasley of Shawnee, Richard Lasley and Jacey of OKC, a brother, Jerome Harrison, her father: Charles Lasley of Shawnee, aunt and uncle: Jean Pennock and Rick Pennock of Shawnee, and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Wake services will be Thursday evening, June15, at First Indian Baptist Church with Danny Faulkner officiating.  Funeral services will be 10:30am Friday, June 16, 2023 at First Indian Baptist Church with Victor Cope officiating.  Burial will be at Wakolee Cemetery.
