Dennis L. Trout

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dennis L. Trout, who departed this life on January 7, 2025, at the age of 76, in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

Dennis was born on January 11, 1948, in Pikeville, Kentucky, to A.J. and Donna Trout. From humble beginnings, Dennis grew into a man defined by his selflessness, work ethic, and deep devotion to his family. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, carrying the values of sacrifice and discipline into every aspect of his life.

After returning home, Dennis pursued his passion for automobiles, earning a degree in Automotive Technology from Harrison County Community College. He spent much of his career teaching Automotive Technology at vocational centers, later working at AutoZone for over 26 years. Known for his kindness, patience, and unmatched work ethic, Dennis left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

Dennis’s greatest love and source of joy was his wife, Anita Louise (Gwin) Trout, who preceded him in death. The two shared a beautiful life filled with companionship and cherished moments. Among Dennis’s many hobbies, none brought him greater happiness than simply being by Anita’s side. Whether spending quiet evenings together or enjoying family gatherings, his heart was always with her.

He was also a gifted upholsterer, a skilled computer gamer, and a family man who prioritized his loved ones above all else. Dennis believed that his family was his greatest legacy and took immense pride in the lives of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild.

Dennis is survived by his daughters, Holly Thompson and her husband Jack, and Brandy Bond and her husband Kevan; his grandchildren, Sarah Benito and husband Alex Benito, Jake Thompson and wife Catherine Thompson, Jackson Thompson, Jett Thompson, Nathaniel Gibson and fiancée Emily Pursley, and Bowie Gibson; his great-grandchild, Stella Benito; his brother, Andrew Trout and his wife Debbie Trout; his nephew, Bob Van Orden and his wife Anna Van Orden; his nieces, Kristen Walnofer and her husband Travis Walnofer, and Chris Wykowski and her husband Jim Wykowski. He was preceded in death by his parents, A.J. and Donna Trout, and his beloved wife, Anita.

A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held in Dennis’s honor on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at 6 p.m. at Grace Church in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

Dennis’s life was a testament to hard work, love, and unwavering devotion to family. His legacy of love and sacrifice will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
