Shawnee resident, Don Weir, 85, died Sunday, January 26, 2020.
Services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 30 at Emmanuel Episcopal Church with Father Tom Dahlman officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park, under the direction of Walker Funeral Service.
Don was born February 10, 1934 in Shawnee, OK to Jeff & Grace Weir. He was a graduate of Shawnee High School, and was the paint department administrator for General Motors. On December 31, 1959 he married Pat Sparks. She preceded him in death on August 19, 2017. Don was a member of the Parish Vestry at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, where he helped restore the original altar that was built in 1896, putting in over 300 hours of work. He was also a long time Junior Warden. In 1957 he placed first in his class in the winter nationals drag racing.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a sister-in-law Mary Weir, brother-in-law J.L. Baker, niece Linda Baker, nephews Bob McElmurry, great-nephew: Talon Fletcher and cousins Butch and Delbert Prather.
He is survived by a brother Bill Weir of Las Vegas, sister Mary Lou Baker of Duncan; nephews Chris Weis of Las Vegas, and Kent & Pam Baker of Plano; niece Sherry McElmurry of Las Vegas; brother & sister-in-law Jim & Reba Sparks; nephews Jay & Holly Sparks, Chris & Crystal Sparks; great nephews Tanner Sparks, Jeffrey McElmurry, and Garret Weir; and great nieces Lauren Parker, Jocee Sparks, Westie Sparks and Tatum Sparks.
