Donald Lee Carpenter

February 26, 1936 — November 23, 2019

Donald Lee Carpenter was born to Dow Lee and Stella (Gilpin) Carpenter in Shawnee, OK on February 26, 1936.  After attending several different elementary schools in Oklahoma and in California, Don completed his education at Bethel High School, where he excelled in baseball and basketball, graduating in 1954.  On November 26, 1953, during his senior year, he married the love of his life, Glenora Parsons.  Together, they created a happy home, where anyone and everyone was welcomed.  They were married 64 years until her death in May 2018.  Don always provided well for his family working at several jobs including delivering for various milk and bread companies and doing construction work before beginning a career at Tinker Air Force Base.  After retiring from Tinker, he pursued a second career as a support employee and bus driver at Bethel High School, retiring from there as well.

Don was preceded in death by his wife, Glenora, his parents, sisters Rita Carpenter and Deloris Carpenter Powell, brother Larry Carpenter, and great-granddaughter Everly Carpenter.

He is survived by sons Tommy (Linda) Carpenter of Shawnee OK, Keith (Cindy) Carpenter of Bethel Acres OK and daughter Colleen (Chuck) Arther of McLoud OK, sisters Elaine Woody of Bethel Acres OK, Sherri Terry and Janet (John) Hammon of Tecumseh OK, seven grandchildren Howdy (Karen) Carpenter, Andrea (James) Brooks, Derrick (Jessica) Carpenter all of Bethel Acres OK, Brandon (Alicia) Carpenter of Leedey OK, Nikki ( Rev. Randy) Puckett of Sugarland TX, Joshua Arther of McLoud OK and Jake Arther of Oklahoma City OK, 16 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 29, 2019 in the chapel of Walker Funeral Service.

Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery.

The family will be at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. on the evening of Wednesday, Nov 27 to visit with friends and family.
