Donald Ray Qualls

Donald Ray Qualls was reunited with his love and met Jesus on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, surrounded by family.

Don was born on October 24, 1934 in Idabel, Oklahoma to Millard and Ethel Qualls. He was the oldest of 3 boys. He attended Idabel schools for 12 years, while being a member of the Idabel Baseball Team and National Honor Society. He graduated in 1953. Don was then drafted into the U.S. Army from 1959-1961, where he served as a medic and was stationed in Germany.

Don then met the love of his life, Peggy Lambert and they were married on April 22, 1961. In 1969, they moved to Shawnee to raise their family. He was a loyal employee to Shawnee Soil and Conservation District for 35 years, retiring April 1, 1994.

Don was an avid hunter, fisherman, and archer. He won many awards through the years with Brush Creek Bow Hunters including, Best Average Archer every year from 1984-1988, Hunter of the Year in 1987, and the Big Buck Award in 1988. In May of 1997, he was awarded a certificate by the Oklahoma Wildlife Conservation that entered him into the “Cy Curtis Deer Trophy Club” for the Non-Typical 33 point Buck that he shot on October 27, 1996.

There was never a day that passed his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren didn’t feel the love he had for them.

Don is preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Peggy Ann Qualls, son Ricky Lynn Scott, his parents Millard and Ethel Qualls, and his son-in-law, David Combs.

He is survived by his daughters, Bevery Qualls of the home, Nancy Newton and husband Ronnie Newton of McLoud, and Karen Combs of the home; his grandchildren, Jessica Spain and husband James Spain of McLoud, Tabitha Montgomery and husband Jordan Montgomery of Shawnee, Phillip Searcy and wife Candance Searcy of Healdton, Bailey Phillips and husband Tajhler Philips of Stillwater, Alan Brewer of the home, Brayden Robbins and husband Slater Robbins of Shawnee, and Dedra Meeks and husband Dalton Meeks of Seminole; great-grandchildren, Addy Young and husband Seth Young, Parker Barnard, Lily, Claire, and Olen Steward, Carly Montgomery, Kash and Karoline Phillips, Axel, Aydan, Aariah, and Asher Searcy, Roman and Dempsey Robbins, and Myla and Willo Meeks; brothers, Jerry Qualls and wife Sharon Qualls and Kenneth Qualls and wife Pat Qualls and many other family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 6th from 1:00 pm-5:00 pm at Walker Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Monday, October 7th at 10:00 am with Bro. Mike Craig and Bro. Randy Moore officiating, also at Walker Funeral Home.
