Diane (Gatlin) West passed away on October 10, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer. Diane was born in Oklahoma City on May 13, 1959, the oldest of four children, to Calvin and Darlene Gatlin. The family moved to Meeker when she was five. Diane graduated from Meeker High School in 1977 and attended East Central University, graduating with a degree in education. On May 17, 1986 she married Brad West in Shawnee. Diane was employed in the oil and gas industry until 1990, when she left to pursue her real passion, managing her 300 acre ranch. Horses, cattle, dogs and cats; she took care of them all. All she asked from Brad was his financial backing.
Diane’s kindness and generosity were endless. She valued her friendships tremendously. She spoke from the heart. She wore many hats; wife, aunt, trusted friend, team roper, caretaker and teacher, to name a few. She left us far too soon.
Preceding Diane in death were her mother, father and brother, Robert. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 37 years, Brad, sisters Debbie Spencer and Sheila Kirk (Micah), nieces Callie Kirk and Laney Kirk-Kato, nephews Colton Fowler (Brandi), Kendyl, Gentri and Weslyn Fowler, Tony Gatlin (Ashley), Bode and Bailyn Gatlin, and Dillon Spencer.
Services will be held Monday, October 16, 2023 AT 10 a.m. at Wesley United Methodist Church in Shawnee. Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery in Meeker. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Shawnee Salvation Army.
