Dorothy Hatch Kern

Shawnee resident Dorothy Louise Hatch Kern, 97, passed away Thursday, June 23, 2022 at her home.

Visitation will be Thursday from 5pm to 7pm at Walker Funeral and Cremation Service. Funeral services will be 2pm Friday, July 1, 2022 at Walker Funeral Service with Larry Sparks officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Salvation Army or the charity of your choice.

Dottie was born April 5, 1925 in Oxford, Ohio to Warren William Stickrod and Eunice Echo (Schultz) Stickrod. She grew up attending several grade schools and high schools but earned a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Missouri. She married James Henry Hatch III on October 11, 1947. After his death, she married John W. Kern in 1991. Dottie volunteered her time with the Salvation Army, D.A.R., Jr. Service League, a proud member of the Republican Party, and enjoyed playing Bridge.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 husbands: James Hatch and John Kern, a grandson: James Andrew Hatch, a brother: Don Stickrod, and a sister: Jane Benjamin.

Survivors include 3 children: Steve Hatch and wife Lucy of Gainesville, GA, Jim Hatch and wife Billye Sue of Shawnee, and Carol Craig and husband Curtis of Tulsa, she was “Meme” to 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous extended family members and friends.
