Edward David "Ed" Hendershot

February 6, 1936 — July 22, 2022

Edward David "Ed" Hendershot age 86 of Shawnee died Friday July 22, 2022 in a Meeker Nursing Home.

Services have been set for Monday, July 25, 2022 at Hazel Dell Baptist Church at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Lee Witt officiating.  Burial will follow in the Dale Cemetery. More information will be announced. Viewing will be Saturday from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm and Sunday from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Walker Funeral Service. The casket will be open until service time at the church and not opened after the service. Pallbearers will be grandsons: Brandon Nicholson, Luke Elliston, Kevin Howe and Logan Elliston.  

Ed was born February 6, 1936 in Rush Springs, Oklahoma to Roy and Goldie (Price) Hendershot.  He was a backhoe operator for Oklahoma Natural Gas retiring in 1994. He married Mary Lou Carpenter on May 18, 1957 in Dale, Oklahoma.  He served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1960 and the reserves for two years.  He served on the Dale Public School Board for fifteen years.  A member of Hazel Dell Baptist Church and a member of Okie/Arkie Trail Riders Assn for 20 years.  He was an avid OU fan and you could always find him in front of the television watching their games.  Having a second home at Eufaula, he loved to fish on the dock and run the jug lines.  His family provided him with countless hours of memories, love and laughter.

He is preceded in death by: infant son David Edward Hendershot; parents: Roy and Goldie Hendershot; grandson: Rickie Vincent and brother: Don Hendershot.

He is survived by his Wife: Mary Lou Hendershot; daughter & son-in-law: Diane and Randy Vincent of Shawnee; daughter and son-in-law: Tracy and Tommy Nicholson of Edmond; daughter and son-in-law: Kelly and Mark Elliston of Elon, North Carolina; sister: Margaret Snyder of Dale, Oklahoma; grandchildren: Schyla & Kevin Howe, Luke and Erika Elliston, Logan and Emily Elliston, Brandon and Sarah Nicholson and Shelby and Josh Plotkin; great-grandchildren: Easton, Rylan, Liam, Emerson, Huxley, Goldie and Clay, and many Nieces, Nephews, family & friends.
