Franklin Daniel Hill passed away on Thursday, October 19th, 2023 at his home in Shawnee.
Frank was born on January 10th, 1934 at the ACH Hospital in Shawnee to Charles Daniel and Ollie Willow (Nichols) Hill of Seminole, OK. He was the 8th child born to them. Frank attended numerous small rural schools throughout Seminole County, including Carr City, Hazel and Pleasant Grove. He graduated from Pleasant Grove High School in 1952 and began attending Seminole Junior college. He left SJC to join the US Army from 1953-55 and served in the North Eastern part of the US. Following his Army service, Frank earned a BS from the then East Central State College, Ada in 1957. As a newly minted Math teacher, he moved west and taught in Compton, CA for two years before returning and teaching at US Grant HS in OKC. 1961 was a pivotal role in Frank’s life because he decided to take an opportunity to become a teacher with the Department of Defense Dependent Schools (DoDDS) overseas. His first assignment was in Ankara Turkey, followed by Hahn and Wiesbaden Germany, Rota Spain, Karamursel Turkey, Peshawar Pakistan, Weathersfield England, Kadean and Kubasaki Okinawa, Hessen and Frankfurt Germany. The positions he held included Math teacher, Asst. Principal, Principal, Secondary Coordinator, Chief of Executive Services, District Superintendent before retiring in 1991 as Special Assistant to the Deputy Director of DoDDS. Along the way he earned a Masters Degree from the University of Oklahoma and completed the course work for a doctorate at the University of Southern California.
Following his retirement, Frank moved to a golf course in the pacific northwest for two years before moving to Shawnee in 1993 to be closer to his brothers and sister. Frank continued to travel in his retirement. He enjoyed spending time with friends from all over the world, skiing, playing tennis, renovating his home, golfing with his brother Bryce and his local golf buddies at courses all over the state and beyond.
Frank is survived by his daughter Britt Hill of OR, his first cousins Betty Ann Woodcock and Charles (Bud) Barton, Nieces and Nephews - Vicki Nauck and her son Bryon Williams and his wife Kathy; Nancy Schwab and her husband Will and their children Leah, Olivia Hassen and her husband Luke, Dean, Audrey, Isla and Jacee; Karen Condon and her husband Ralph and their children Cara Bandy and her husband Dan, Susi Peters and her husband Fritz and David Condon and his wife Janna; Judith Hill Evans and her son Ty and his wife Amanda; Susan Hill and her son Charlie and his father Mohammed; Bryce Anthony “Tony” Hill and his wife Sunshine of Tulsa; Brent Hill and his wife Kim and their children Brienne and Alexandria; JoeDan Cardenas and his daughter Kaylee; and Debbie Yamaguchi and her husband Floyd and their daughter Laci; also grand niece Pam Proctor and her husband Chris and grand nephew Rick Bell and his wife Jessica.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents Charles Daniel and Ollie Willow Hill, brothers Harold, James, Gene and Bryce, and sisters, Rachel Risenhoover, Doris Hill, and Wanda Cardenas.
An open house celebration of Frank’s life will be held at his home on Friday, November 3rd from 3-7 pm. Frank will be buried at Little Cemetery, Little, OK.
