Fred Dewayne Jenkins, born on May 10, 1938 in Hutchinson, KS to Frank and Vivian Jenkins as the youngest of eight brothers and sisters. He hung his spurs up on February 26, 2025 at the age of 86.
Fred graduated from Central High School in May of 1956. The next day he enlisted in the US Marine Corps, and was very proud to serve his country. He retired from Tinker Air Force base in 1993, after 34 years as a computer operator and supervisor.
Fred was a lifelong cowboy, from raising and breaking colts to team penning and roping. He was a legendary storyteller and loved sharing his many antics and life stories with others, his red heeler sidekick “Piggy”, coon hunting, fishing and raising hounds until his later years.
He was married to Connie Loraine Bly for 50 years. Through the years they enjoyed taking motorcycle trips and building a 20 acre homestead and horse ranch.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Vivian Jenkins, his brother Herman Lee Jenkins, many half brothers and sisters and his step daughter, Christa Ketcher.
He is survived by his wife, Connie Jenkins, his sister, Katherine Cain, his sons, Dewayne and wife Terri Jenkins, Daniel and wife Crystal Jenkins and daughter Cynthia Pack. His grandchildren Laci, Chase, Hunter, Jessica, Alley, Landyn, Jesse, April, and Austin, as well as thirteen great-grandchildren, Cheyenne, Ava, Tymber, Briar, Audrey, Byntlee, Kanyon, Briggs, Blaiklee, Everlee, Bodhi, Ridge, and Leon.
Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at Walker Funeral & Cremation Service on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 from 11:00 am - 7:00 pm. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at 10:00 am at Dale Cemetery.
