Gladys Marie Kinnamon

Gladys Marie (Robertson) Kinnamon passed to her eternal home on November 14, 2022 surrounded by her loving family at home. Services will be at 2:00 pm Friday November 18, 2022 at Walker Funeral home with Pastor Doug Parker officiating. Burial will follow at Dale Cemetery under the direction of Walker Funeral services. Family visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday November 17, 2022 from 6 to 7 pm. Gladys was born April 20, 1931 to A.C. Robertson and Stella (Burleson) Robertson. She graduated as Valedictorian at Dale High School class of 1948. She married Johnnie Lee Kinnamon and was happily married to him for 68 years. They moved to a small farm near Dale 64 years ago. Gladys transformed the acreage to a beautifully designed English-style garden filled with flowering shrubs, perennials and annual beds she planted and maintained. People who passed by would often stop to admire the beautiful gardens she created. Her yard was featured once in Oklahoma Garden magazine. She also grew a bountiful vegetable garden and canned and froze the produce to prepare for her family meals. She was a remarkable southern cook. Sunday dinner was always a table filled with a great southern feast for her family. She was famous for her deserts but particularly her pies. She was awarded Grand Champion Pie Award at the Pottawatomie County fair for years and also won many first place ribbons at the Oklahoma State Fair for her pies. She was also an excellent seamstress and won many awards for the garments she made. Gladys was a joyous person who loved life. She was always smiling and had a contagious laugh. Gladys loved her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great-grandchild. She will always be remembered by them as one who gave generously and always went the extra mile to make their lives better. Memories of her sweetness and generosity towards them will always be cherished by them. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Johnnie Lee Kinnamon, her son Jerry Wayne Kinnamon, her great grandson, Ryton Lane Kinnamon (son of Brock Kinnamon) her parents, A.C. and Stella Robertson, her sisters: Ethel Loman, Ederal Neely, Blanch Keller, Jean Fay Biddle, Jimmie Lou Bly and her brothers: Thurman Robertson and Lynn Robertson. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Kinnamon Bush and her husband Kerry Bush of Nashville, TN, grandchildren Brett Kinnamon and wife Kara, Brock Kinnamon and wife Brittany all from Dale, Andrew Kinnamon of Bethel Acres and Maria French of Nashville. Her surviving great grandchildren are Chris Kinnamon, Mason Kinnamon, Macy Jo Kinnamon, Kelsey Kinnamon and MaKenna Bienhoff and great great-grandson Amari Garcia.
