Shawnee resident Grover Allen Lawson, 71, passed away Monday, April 23, 2018 at a local hospital.Allen, the son of Grover and Phyllis Marie (Asbury) Lawson was born in Seminole on March 13, 1947. He served proudly in the US Army for six years. Allen spent time working for Burlington Northern Railroad, he was a truck driver and worked in construction to include time spent overseas as a contractor in support of Iraqi Freedom. Ultimately he retired at Tinker where he worked for years as a painter. Allen married Judy Rakay Rich on January 3, 1978 in Konawa. Allen was a biker, he was also an avid reader, loved westerns, especially John Wayne films, and attending events at the VFW. Allen was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Al Rose; and two brothers, Monty Lawson and an infant brother David Ray Lawson.He is survived by his wife, Judy, of 40 years; his children, Tammy and Larry Earls of Tecumseh, Shelly and Jeff Harwell of Shawnee, Clint and Cristi Morrow of Henrietta, Brian and Shannon Lawson of Choctaw, Brad Lawson of Tecumseh, and Emilee and Chad Hastings of Harrah; grandchildren, Jodi and Joseph Harrison, Zac and Emma Earls, Jessica and Riley Elmore, Rikki Earls, Kyle Lawson, Kaylee Lawson, Ava Kaelin, Marlee Hastings, and Bailor Hastings; great granddaughter, Tenley Elmore; a sister and brother-in-law, Janice and Frank Brinsfield of Houston; his mother-in-law Bobbie Postman; nieces, Monica Williams, Sheila Kinnard and Becca Bates; nephew Billy Brinsfield and many other family and friends.Funeral services will be Friday, April 27, at 10:00 AM at Walker Funeral Chapel in Shawnee, interment will follow at Little Cemetery in Seminole. Services are under the direction of Walker Funeral Service in Shawnee.
