Helen Virginia Carpenter passed away at her home in Chandler, OK, March 5, 2023. She was born May 27, 1928 in Belleville, Arkansas to Arville G. and Fredda Belle (Smith) Morse.
Helen was raised in Arkansas and Oklahoma, graduating from Harrah High School in 1947. She and Alton E. Carpenter, Sr. were married on December 14, 1946 in Meeker, OK and enjoyed sixty-two years together until his passing.
Helen and her family moved to California in 1962, living in several different cities in southern California through the years. She worked as a bookkeeper for Loyal Sheet Metal Company for 26 years. She moved back to Oklahoma in 2010 after her husband passed.
Helen was an Eastern Star Worthy Matron and was a hospitality volunteer at Calvary Chapel of Temecula, where she delivered meals to the sick, drove people to medical appointments, shopping for groceries, and anything else they might need.
She enjoyed square dancing, gardening, both flowers and vegetables, crocheting, knitting, cooking and absolutely loved reading and watching Hallmark movies. She was a lifelong Dodgers baseball fan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Alton, Sr., brother, Harold Morse, three sons, Harold, Alton, JR., and Larry Carpenter, one daughter, Cathy Cain, and one grandson, Jason Carpenter.
Helen had a caring and giving heart. She lived a life that proved she was a Christian.
Helen is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Gary Whitney, thirteen grandchildren, David, Lisa, Miklyn, Gayle, Kevin, Bill, Kimberly, Kristina, Evgeni, Alton, III, John, Barbara, and Josh, twenty-seven great-grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren, two sisters and brother-in-law, Geneva and Bill Haury, Jeannette Coleman, sister-in-law, Caroline Morse, many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be at the Harrah First Baptist Church, 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 20th with Pastor Doug Jones officiating. Burial will be at the Memory Lane Cemetery in Harrah, OK.
