Helen Ruth (Collins) Taylor age 95 formerly of Shawnee died Monday September 26, 2022 in a Del City, Oklahoma. She was born in Okmulgee, Ok on March 27, 1927 to Elmer & Erma Collins. She graduated high school from Mason, Ok. There she met her one & only love, Gordon Lawrence Taylor, whom she married Aug. 28, 1945 at the 1st Baptist Church of Midwest City, Ok. She retired from Western Electric (AT&T) in 1978 and was a member of The Telephone Pioneers. She was an Ombudsman for nursing homes for eighteen years. Helen was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Shawnee. She spent the last five years of her life at Wellington Parke’s Memory Care Facility in Del City, due to Dementia. She was a great cook, especially her pies and cakes that her family will sorely miss. Helen had one son, Larry Dale Taylor, and one daughter Patsy Ruth Smith, one sister Johanna Dyer, two half sisters, and two half brothers. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, son, and all her siblings. Helen is survived by her daughter, Patsy Smith of Del City, granddaughter Julie Rhodes (Jerry) of Lexington, OK, grandson Randy Cram (Jodie) of Choctaw, Ok, great grandsons Nicholas Rhodes, OKC, and Carson Cram, Choctaw, OK, great-granddaughters, Sarah Austin (John), Norman, OK, and Kacie Cram, Choctaw, OK, great-great grandson, Preston Rhodes, Tuttle, OK. Graveside service will be Thursday September 29th, 2:00 p.m., Highland Cemetery, Okemah, OK. Arrangements are under the direction of Walker Funeral and Cremation Service.
