Howard L. Fowler

Howard Lester Fowler, resident of Shawnee, passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2024. He was 85 years old. Howard was born on November 18, 1938 in Tecumseh, Oklahoma to his parents, Sebern L. Fowler and Louise (Mitchel) Fowler.

The life of Howard Lester Fowler inspired many, and his genuine love for people will be remembered for generations. Responsibility to family was deeply rooted in his early life while growing up in Bethel Acres, Oklahoma. During these early years, a cute girl on horseback sparked his interest. Her name was Gerona May Wellman and she became his wife on June 27, 1959. As they embarked upon a life together, Howard was attentive to his family. He encouraged them to live life to the fullest. His profound love for his wife, children, and grandchildren was continually evident by the radiant smile on his face whenever they were in the room.

To his extended family and friends, he upheld a sincere obligation to be there for them whenever he could. He had many Uncles, Aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins. They were often a focus of discussion and held a special place in his heart. His friends were everyone he met. It is true to say he never met a stranger. A saying of Howard’s was, “A person should always treat everyone with love, dignity and respect.” He lived this out in his life and will always be remembered as a person to be admired.

In reflection of Howard’s life and how he loved people, it’s only natural to celebrate a well-lived life. Everyone who knew and loved Howard is invited to a celebration of his life at Blackburn Cemetery on Thursday, April 11, 2024 at 2:00 pm.

We know he is at peace with the Lord, most likely singing praise with family and friends who have gone before.

Preceding Howard in death are his parents, Sebern and Louise Fowler, his brother-in-law, Jim Baldwin, and nephew, Kevin Baldwin.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Gerona Fowler, daughter, Pamela Hatchard and husband Mark Hatchard, daughter, Kimberly Winsett and Rick Winsett, son, Rodney Fowler, grandchildren, Derick Winsett and wife Kendra, Austin Winsett and wife Natalie, Abbigail Moates and husband Colby, and Sophia Grunewald and Dominic, great-grandchildren, Mavrick Winsett, Journey Winsett, Noa Winsett, Liam Winsett, Maggie Moates, Oliver Grunewald, and Alice Grunewald, sister, Bobbie Baldwin, nephews, Mark Baldwin and Eric Baldwin, as well as a host of extended family and many dear friends.
