Jack Roger Lane

Jack Roger Lane, 69, a Shawnee resident, passed away in Shawnee. Jack was born in Shawnee to Jackie and Ernestine Lane.

Jack began working in high school at Humpty, and was promoted to Assistant Store Manager by the time he was 18. He met the love of his life, Paula Jo Bricker, at Seminole College in 1973. While she turned him down repeatedly in the beginning, Jack did not give up on his pursuit of Paula. With some time, charm, and a plastic fishing tub in the trunk of his car, he eventually got the girl. Jack and Paula got engaged 4 weeks after their first date and married 4 months later.

Jack and Paula worked hard to put Jack through college, and Jack earned his Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Oklahoma. He worked for over 20 years with ARCO Oil and Gas and was a brilliant engineer. His career took his family to New Mexico and eventually Midland, Texas. In Midland, Jack was a member of the Front Street Church of Christ and had a close community of lifelong friends.

After retiring from ARCO, Jack and Paula moved back to Oklahoma to help care for his mother. Jack began a second career with Tinker Air Force Base and received special commendations for his 12 years of service there.

Jack loved to travel, RV, play pranks on his friends and family, and tell jokes. He also loved any opportunity to embarrass his two daughters and pass on tips and advice to his five grandchildren.

Jack is survived by his wife, Paula of Shawnee; his daughter, Lori of Florida; his daughter, Tina and her husband Trevor of Texas; sister, Linda and husband Phillip of Seminole; sister-in-law, Linda and brother-in-law Kamel; brother-in-law, Dean and sister-in-law Kristina; five grandchildren, Gabriela, Briana, Mateo, Mason, and Carter; niece, Marva and husband Victor and their son, Ryan; niece, Dina; nephew, Bryan; nephew, James; great-nieces, Audrey, Ava, and Bella; great-nephew, Bryce and many additional cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and nephew, Ryan.
