Jacque Lou Long

Jacque Lou (Ashley) Long passed from this life on April 15, at the age of 90 in McLoud, Oklahoma.

She was known to her family as Lou, grandkids as Nina, and Jackie to friends. She was a woman with incredible love and kindness. Her family was everything to her and she has left an imprint that will be carried forward for generations. She put on Christ in baptism as a young girl and was a member of the Baptist faith.

Jackie was born on February 2, 1935, to Doris and Luther Ashley in Stratford, Oklahoma. She attended Stratford High School graduating as valedictorian in 1953 and then East Central University in Ada graduating in 1957 with a teaching degree in Elementary and Secondary Education. She obtained a master's degree from the University of Central Oklahoma in Business Education in 1977. She was one of the founding members of the Future Business Leader's of America program at McLoud Schools. Her teaching career started at Stratford and ended at McLoud Schools where she taught for 29 years, retiring in 1990.

It was at East Central University that she met Ralph Long and they married on November 22, 1956. Together they had three children.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Billy Bob Ashley, sister-in-law Donna Faye Ashley, and sister-in-law Gail Ashley.

Remaining to mourn her passing is her husband, Ralph, children Doris (Darrell) Thornton, Bobby Long, and Joyce (Jimmy) Godwin, brother Jerry Ashley, brother and sister-in-law Jimmy and Donna Kaye Ashley. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Kyle (Laci) Thornton, Eric (Kari) Thornton, Ashley (Brentson) Miller, Morgan (Dustin) Hays and Dalton (Lilly) Long as well as her great-grandchildren, Cash, Cannon, Piper, Cutler, Colter, and Ellie Lou, along with a host of nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Valir Hospice for their wonderful care, especially Cassandra Sanders, Heather Bryant and Robin Pollard.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so on Friday, April 18, 2025, from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm with family present to greet friends from 5-7pm.
