Lt. Col. James LeRoy Biegler, United States Marine Corps (Retired), 85, of Shawnee, Oklahoma passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2017. Memorial services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 21, 2017 in Del City, OK at the American Legion (5000 SE 24th St.). He will be buried with full military honors at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. James LeRoy Biegler, son of Mary Anna Brossart and John Joseph Biegler, was born 4 August 1932 in Ipswich, SD. He attended grade school at the Belle Township, Edmunds County public school and Holy Cross Catholic grade school, Ipswich, SD. He then attended Assumption Abbey High School, Richardton, ND where he graduated in 1950. After high school he attended Creighton University, Omaha, NE, earning a Bachelor of Science degree. In 1953, he married Elizabeth Ann (Crompton) and enlisted in the US Marine Corps Reserve and entered active service in 1954 upon graduation from Creighton University. He remained on active duty with the Marines until November 1974 when he retired. He served with the First Marine Division in the Republic of Vietnam in 1967-1968. After retirement from the Corps, he married Phyllis Bush and they owned and operated a Real Estate Company in Edmond, OK for more than 20 years. They then moved to Myrtle Beach, SC for retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Phyllis, and a sister, Patricia Donovan. Survivors include Sons: James Biegler Jr. and wife Laura of McLoud, Robert Biegler of OKC, and Michael Biegler of OKC; Daughters: Margo French and husband Jim of Choctaw, and Susan Sweetser and husband Claude of Atlanta, GA; 9 Grandchildren, 5 Great-Grandchildren, and a Brother-in-law: Joe Donovan of Hecla, SD.
