Janet Faye Stryjewski, 79, from Shawnee, Oklahoma passed away unexpectedly at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Oklahoma City on August 10th with husband and daughters by her side.
She was born in Ada, Oklahoma to William Andrew and Mabel Fay (Dickey) Ryan on December 18, 1943. She attended school at Shawnee Schools in Shawnee, Oklahoma graduating in 1961. After graduating, she worked for Western Electric briefly before starting her career with the Department of Defense at Tinker Air Force Base. She moved around with that career working at military bases in San Antonio, Texas and in Irvine, California. She worked as Aircraft Scheduler and Budget Analyst before retiring in February 1999. She worked at Jones Theaters and Project Heart in Shawnee after her retirement and made many friends there.
Strong in her faith, Janet was an active member of Immanuel Baptist Church and previous longtime member of St. Benedict Catholic Church. She donated her time and talents serving with the Shawnee Sentinels and the Off Highway volunteer patrol in Twin Peaks, California along with her husband.
Janet was a loving mother of two daughters, Angela Marie (Benton) Duggan and Holly Kay (Benton) Robertson. She married the love of her life, Gene Stryjewski, on October 24, 1980 in Paris, Texas. She enjoyed many adventures, 4-wheeling, and traveling the world with her husband. She was known as Ma Jan to all of her grandchildren and Great grandchildren and loving mother to her daughters. She provided many lasting memories with her children and grandchildren by taking them to SeaWorld, San Antonio Zoo, Disneyland, Universal Studios, Venice Beach, San Diego Zoo and Sequoia National Park as well as many other places.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, William A. and Mabel Ryan; her two brothers and their wives, Charles (Chuck) and Velda Ryan of Fountain Valley, California, Gary and Shirley Ryan of Edmond, Oklahoma; her sister and husband, Jean and Norris McFeeley of Oklahoma; great-grandson, Colt Duggan of Oklahoma; as well as many other relatives and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Gene of the home; her two beloved daughters and sons-in-law, Angela and Chris Duggan of Prague, Oklahoma and Holly and Trevor Robertson of Shawnee, Oklahoma; grandchildren (great-grandchildren), Zack and Robin Duggan (Aubrey, Natalie), Jake Duggan (Eli), Eden and Zach Benard, Ryan Westerhoff, Avery and Cole Payne; step-son Eugene Stryjewski; step-daughter and husband Lisa and Kyle Miller; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and close lifelong friends.
Memorial services will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, August 26, 2023 at Immanuel Baptist Church in Shawnee, OK.
