Meeker resident Joan Hubbell, 91, passed away Sunday, March 27, 2022 in Shawnee, OK. Visitation will be 6:00pm to 8:00pm Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at Walker Funeral Service. Funeral services will be 1:30pm Thursday, March 31, 2022 at Walker Funeral Chapel with Rev. Joe Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Meeker New Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Meeker First Christian Church. Joan was born December 9, 1930 in Lincoln County to V.R. Armitage and Annie (Trent) Armitage. She was in the last graduating class White Rock School. On September 2, 1950, she married Delbert Lowell Hubbell in Chandler, Oklahoma. Together they owned and operated a dairy farm near Meeker and later farmed and ranched. Mrs. Hubbell was a member of the Meeker First Christian Church and Order of Eastern Star, Meeker Chapter 430. She volunteered at the Meeker Museum and was active in the Lincoln County 4-H. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, gardening and being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brother; Lee Armitage, sister: Ruth Shingleton, son-in-law: Eddie Fowler, nephews: Eldon Shingleton and Mike Armitage. Survivors include 3 daughters: Peggy Cullison and husband Randy of Shawnee, Karen Fowler of Meeker, and Betty Wright and husband Garey of Meeker, 4 grandchildren: Melissa Capps and husband Aaron, Darin Fowler, Melanie Young and husband Matt, and Heather Kaplan and husband Matt, great-grandchildren: Scout Capps, Cole Capps, Cade Capps, Clayton Fowler, Rylee Young, Daythan Lawson and Katy Kaplan, In-laws: J.C. Hubbell of Meeker, Sue and Paul Graham of OKC, and Norma Hubbell of Wichita, OK, and several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
