Joel Thomas Catlett age 96 of Shawnee, died Thursday, January 13, 2022 at his home. Graveside services will be Saturday, January 22, 2022 at 2:00 PM in Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Gerard Nsabimana officiating. Joel was born March 25, 1925 in Holdenville, Oklahoma to George and Bertha (Yandel) Catlett. He retired from Tinker Air Force Base where he started out on the flight line and worked his way up. He married Clarrissia Lee on January 6, 1947. This would have been their 75th Anniversary. He served in the Army during WWII and Honorably discharged. He was a founding member of First Christian Church. Was a Deacon and 4th grade Sunday School Teacher. Currently a member of Wesley United Methodist Church. Supported the local food bank and volunteered at the High School Rodeo Championships and many other civic organizations. He was loved and respected by everyone. A good husband and father. Enjoyed gardening, fishing and camping. For years he would fix or purchase bicycles and repair them to give to local children. He believed every child should have a bicycle. And he loved to fly the US flag in his front yard. He was preceded in death by his wife: Clarrissia and daughter Linda Roberts. Survived by: Son: Joel T Catlett, Jr. and wife Tammy of Tennessee Grandchildren: Julie Heard (Jacob) of Texas; Clay Catlett of California; Kane Catlett of Tennessee; F. Joel Catlett (Melanie) of Tennessee; Emma Catlett of Tennessee; Lisa Tippen (Brian) of Oklahoma; Becky Medina of Oklahoma. 6 Great Granddaughters, 5 Great Grandsons, and 1 Great Great Granddaughter.
