Johnny M. Cowan

Shawnee resident Johnny M. Cowan, 68, passed away Friday, July 27, 2018 in Oklahoma City.The family will receive friends at Walker Funeral Service on Tuesday, July 31 from 6pm to 8pm. Services will be 10:00am Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at Walker Funeral Service Chapel with Larry Sparks officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.Johnny was born September 21, 1949 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. He graduated from Shawnee High School in 1967 and then attended Draughns’s Business School. He served in the United States Army reserves for 6 years. On February 14, 1969 he married Marcia (Nixon). Johnny owned Cowan’s Casuals in Shawnee and later Cowan’s Rose Petal Floral in OKC. He also enjoyed working part-time as a D.J. playing golden oldies at parties and wedding receptions. He loved his family, enjoyed hosting pool parties, and was Boston Red Sox and Boston Celtics fan.He was preceded in death by his mother: Rozanne Abney, grandmother: Mattie Greenlee, uncle: Roy Greenlee, and aunt: Virginia Russ.He is survived by his wife: Marcia Cowan of the home,Son: Derek Cowan and Christi Markham of Edmond,Grandchildren: Zane Cowan, Quinn Cowan, and Grayson Markham,Brothers: Jackie Don Cowan of Tennessee,Clyde “Bubby” Cowan of Shawnee,And several nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
