Juanita "June" Bradfield

June 18, 1921 — May 20, 2020

On Wednesday, May 20, 2020 June Bradfield, long time resident of Shawnee and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully at the age of 98.

June was born on June 18, 1921, in Nowata, Oklahoma to Murray and Juanita Humphrey. She grew up in Tulsa and attended Tulsa Central High school graduating in 1939. She then attended what was then Oklahoma A&M University for 2 years. She married the love of her life Jack Bradfield on October 4, 1940 in Tulsa. They had two daughters, Bevlyn June Taron and Marybeth Franklin. After a brief move to Shreveport, Louisiana they made their home in Shawnee in 1954. Jack and June were the owners of Sooner Supply in Shawnee until their retirement in 1989.

June was active as a group leader and member of the board of directors of Shawnee Campfire. She was also a member of a Shawnee Mothers group as well as several bridge clubs. June was also a member of The Daughters of The American Revolution. June had a passion for gardening, she spent many hours in her beautiful flower gardens and in her vegetable garden at Lake Eufaula. She and Jack traveled all over the world and later all over the United States in their RV. June adored her five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She loved teaching them the names of all the wildflowers and birds in Oklahoma. June loved her community of Shawnee and was well known by many.

She will be deeply missed by her friends, family and all that knew her.

June is survived by her daughter Marybeth Franklin, Son-in-law Leonard Taron, Nephew Larry and wife Jimi Bradfield, Great Niece Jenna Rice Thomas and husband Rick Thomas, grandchildren; Laura Franklin, Andrea Taron, Lisa and husband Todd Adcock, Brad Taron, Matthew Franklin and his fiancée Laura Schapp. Great-grandchildren Emilie Kate and Alex Adcock.

June was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years Jack, her sister Marilyn Humphreys and her daughter Bevlyn.

A visitation is to be held at Walker Funeral Service on Tuesday May 26, 2020 from 5pm – 7pm. A graveside service for the Family will be held at a later date at Fairview Cemetery.

We want to say a special Thank You to David and Kim Dunn along with Melody Spoon for the many years of love and care they showed June. We would also like to thank Heartland Hospice for making her final moments peaceful.

Pallbearers will be Todd Adcock, Jon-Mark Adcock, David Dunn, Matt Franklin, Tyler Inda and M. Brad Taron.
