Kay Paula (Knouse) Barrick passed peacefully Tuesday, October 2nd at the age of 81. Services will be held at St. Benedict’s Church (632 N. Kickapoo, Shawnee) with a wake at 7 PM on Sunday, October 7th and funeral service at 10 AM on Monday, Oct 8th. Kay will be buried at Calvary Cemetery in Shawnee.Kay was born on February 10, 1937 in Oklahoma City to Kevin Paul and Catherine Pauline (Tanner) Knouse. She was baptized at St. Francis Church in Oklahoma City and married to Joseph Donald Barrick on November 26, 1959 (also at St. Francis). Kay and Joe were happily married for 58 years and together have three children and seven grandchildren.Kay received a Master’s Degree from Oklahoma State University and worked as the Pottawatomie County Extension Home Economist where she retired in 1997, after more than 25 years. Kay enjoyed volunteer service at St. Benedict’s Church and the Mabee-Gerrer Museum of Art. She loved traveling the world with Joe and her family and friends around Europe, China, Micronesia, Australia and Belize. In their “Gourmet Club,” Kay and Joe enjoyed friendship and menus from around the globe for more than 40 years. Kay also loved playing bridge, knitting and sewing, cooking favorite meals, and was a Master Gardner.Kay is survived by her husband Joseph Donald Barrick; three children Timothy Barrick and wife Jamie, Rebecca Mickelson and husband Ryan, and Pamela Baker and husband Douglas; seven grandchildren Grant and Jack Barrick, Ashlee, Christopher, and Marc Mickelson, and Justin and Alexander Baker; and her sister and brother-in-law Judy (Knouse) and Ken Landes of Bedford, Indiana, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews and their families.In lieu of flowers, we welcome you to make a donation in memory of Kay to Doctors Without Borders (http://donate.doctorswithoutborders.org/) or St. Benedict’s Church (632 N.
