Shawnee resident Kay Hopkins, 75, died Friday, June 2, 2017 in Shawnee. Graveside services will be 2:00 pm Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at Resthaven Memorial Park. Kay Hopkins was born November 1, 1941 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to Roy O. Buckmaster and Bertie Mae (Gregory) Buckmaster. She graduated from Tribbey High School where she played basketball, and received The American Legion Certificate of School Award several times. She married the love of her life, Freddy Albert Hopkins. She worked much of her life as a homemaker but also worked at Vericolor, Sylvania, Wal-Mart, and a cook at a cattle auction. She loved cooking, baking, and quilting. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings, Florence, Cordelia, Aretta, LeRoy, Harold (Hut), Carmelita, Peggy Joyce, and JoAnn; and a grandson: Keith Edward Jr., Survived by: 3 Daughters: Stephanie K. Brewer and husband Norman of Shawnee, Kimberly Odell Ellington of Laconia, Indiana, and Melanie Dawn Zych and husband Jon of Rochester, MN; 7 Grandchildren and 12 Great-Grandchildren.
