Kendall Grant Blakemore, beloved brother, partner, and uncle, departed this world too early on December 2, 2024. A lover of theater and travel, Kendall also doted on his nieces and nephews, whom he loved dearly. Those left behind miss him dearly and remember his presence in our lives.
Everyone that knew him, whether it was for an hour or a lifetime, knew him above all for his kindness and gentleness. Given that he physically towered over most of the people around him, he was the very definition of a gentle giant. Kendall loved the mountains, especially skiing and backpacking, and his friends and family will always remember their time with him there.
Born to Stan and Diane Blakemore in 1981, Kendall spent his early life in Shawnee, OK, graduating from Shawnee High School. He went on from there and continued the family tradition of graduating from Oklahoma State University. After graduating, he began working in the admissions office at OSU and fell in love with helping others through the admissions process. He eventually followed his love of theater and travel to New York City, where he worked in the admissions office at NYU. His co-workers there remember what a pleasure he was to work with. It was also there that he met the love of his life and life-long partner, Edward where they spent several happy and love-filled years together. Kendall also loved for his nieces and nephews to visit him in New York City, and delighted in taking them to Broadway shows, museums, and restaurants all over the city.
He was preceded in death by his partner, Edward, and his parents Stan and Diane (Lowe) Blakemore. He is survived by his grandmother Ozelle Scrutchins, his brother, Cameron Blakemore, his sister-in-law Tatyana Blakemore, and his nieces and nephews Corrin, Camille, Caellan, Tatum, and Helena.
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 16th beginning at 2 pm at Immanuel Baptist Church in Shawnee, OK. Flowers or donations to your favorite charity in his name are welcomed.
