Ken “Kenny” Branson went to his heavenly home Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at the age of 66. Kenny was born in Tulsa, OK on February 1, 1955 to Ray and Joan Branson. He grew up in the Johnson community where his dad was a pastor at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church for ten years. The family moved to Roswell, NM in 1970 where Ken graduated from high school in 1973. After graduation he joined the United States Air Force and served until 1977. Upon completion of his service in Abilene, TX he met “the prettiest blonde I ever did see”. On November 18, 1978 he married Cindy, the love of his life. After she completed college, they moved back to the Johnson community where he served the people there in every way imaginable, eventually taking up the role of mayor. He was a faithful servant of the Church all of his life. He was a jack of all trades and would do anything for anyone. One of his many gifts was helping people. He loved to sing and play music, entertain, and keep people laughing. He also enjoyed fishing and had a genuine love for his country. Spending time with his family was the second most important thing in his life, the first being commitment to his Savior. He was a skilled machinist and retired from Tinker Air Force Base in January of 2021. Kenny was the best husband, dad, brother, uncle, and friend anyone could ever ask for. He was a leader, teacher, and role model to all. Those there to meet him at the gates of heaven are his parents, Ray and Joan, his in-laws, Milton and Jean, and many other loved ones. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 42 years, Cindy Branson; his children Sara, Cara, and Kenneth Jr.; his sisters Connie and husband Ricky, Kathi and husband Mike, and Karla and late husband Gary; his in-laws Ron and Sharon, Tony and Linda, and Glennda; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. His celebration of life will be held at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church at 7101 Kings Rd. in Shawnee on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at 10:00am with Brother Steve Havener officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Shawnee. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Walker Funeral Service.
