Tecumseh resident LaQuita Hurst, 87, passed away Monday, August 19, 2019 at her home.
The family will be at Walker Funeral Service to receive friends on Wednesday from 6pm to 7pm. Graveside services will be 10:00am Thursday, August 22, 2019 at Tecumseh Cemetery.
She was born January 31, 1932 in Maud, Oklahoma to Roy and Ellen Malcom. She graduated from Maud High School and later earned her Master’s Degree from East Central University. She later attended the Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha and O.U. as she enjoyed being a student and learning. She married James Hurst on January 5, 1951. Mrs. Hurst worked most of her life as a Special Education Teacher at various local schools. She was a very generous person and she enjoyed reading, antique furniture, and caring for babies and children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son: Randall Hurst, and a brother: Jimmy Malcom.
Survivors include her Husband: James Hurst of the home, one Daughter: Jamie Hurst Murray and husband Harold, five grandchildren: Stephanie Huett, Dustin Venable, Lindsay Youngblood and husband Ryan, Ariana Hurst, and Preston Hurst, six great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
