Family and friends are invited to remember Shawnee resident Lester Dean Hasbel who passed away Sunday, January 31, 2021 in Shawnee. Services will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday, February 4, 2021 at Walker Funeral Chapel with Larry Sparks officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery in Meeker. The family will be at the funeral home from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday to visit with friends and family. Lester lived to the fullest, for over 78 years, each filled with fond memories, great friendships, and various adventures, many of them with his lifelong love and favorite cohort Carla beside him. Lester owned and operated Hasbel’s Termite & Pest Control Services for many years and also farmed. Among his greatest pleasures were farming, raising cattle, chickens, and many other animals, and family. He also enjoyed excursions to Colorado to hunt deer and elk, and those who knew him well would agree he thoroughly enjoyed pulling pranks on others! Lester always emphasized the value of living within your means while being content for the blessings you are given. Lester was probably best known for his generosity and love of food. If you were around Lester very long, he was going to be sure you ate a good meal! Lester was born November 6, 1942 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to Alva and Bertha Hasbel. He graduated from Meeker High School where he was active in F.F.A., earning the Jr. Master Farmer award. He married Carla Jo (Freeman) in 1962. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother: Alva Hasbel, Jr. Survivors include: 3 Daughters: Dana Myers and husband Dale of Shawnee, Gina Johnson and husband Michael of Newalla, and Gayla DeVore and husband Anthony of Caddo, 6 Grandchildren: Zac, Zane, Nicholas, Kathrine, Andrew, and Kaitlyn, 3 Great-Grandchildren: Killian, Claire, and Nehemiah, 2 Sisters: Carletta Joiner and Geraldine Dunagin, 1 Brother: Vernon Hasbel, And several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
