Lisa S (Case) Cook

Shawnee resident, Lisa Suzanne (Case) Cook, 44, passed away on Friday, January 14, 2022. Viewing will be available at Walker Funeral Service, 201 East 45th Street, Shawnee, Oklahoma. Viewing will be Sunday, January 16th, from 1 PM – 5 PM, and Monday, January 17, from 8 AM – 6 PM. Family will come and go, so anyone may visit at their leisure. A funeral ceremony will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at First Christian Church, Meeker, Oklahoma. Graveside observance will be held at New Hope Cemetery, Meeker. Lisa was born on April 28, 1977, in Shawnee, to Loyd “Buddy” and Linda Case. Lisa attended school at Meeker. She received Christ as her Savior at age 11. She received her Associate’s Degree from Seminole State College and graduated Magnum Cum Laude from Oklahoma Baptist University with a degree in Elementary Education. She taught in Tecumseh and Shawnee schools for fifteen years, before retiring early in 2016. She married Bryan Cook in 2005 at the First Christian Church of Meeker, her home church. She spent her adult life married to Bryan Cook, whom she met at Hopewell Baptist Church in Bethel. She encouraged and supported Bryan, who earned his Doctor of Ministry degree in 2013 and will soon finish a degree in secondary education. They have one child, Zachary, who was the light of her life. They eventually became members of Immanuel Baptist Church in 2017. Lisa was a beloved elementary school teacher in Tecumseh and Shawnee, and an ELL tutor at Shawnee Middle School. Lisa had a fantastic wit, a great sense of humor, and a wonderfully loving spirit. She also enjoyed traveling around Oklahoma, Texas, and Arkansas, seeing some interesting places. She loved all of her family dearly and had a special connection with her mother and grandmother. She fought a long battle with an illness before going to her heavenly home. Lisa was preceded in death by her sister, Lori Michelle Case, maternal grandparents, Troy and Alba Mae Ward and paternal grandparents, Corvet and Jane Case. Survivors include her husband, Bryan Cook and son, Zachary Cook, of the home; parents, Buddy and Linda Case; special great aunt and uncle, Jo Ann and Ken Dungan; father and mother-in-law, Russell and Marsha Cook; brothers and sisters-in-law, Phillip and Angela Cook and Aaron and Joy Swensen; nephews, Connor Cook, Judah Swensen, and Roman Swensen; nieces, Mackenzie Cook, Katelyn Cook, Sydney Swensen, and Cale Swensen; and many other extended family members.
