Longtime Shawnee resident Lloyd D. Wilburn Sr. passed away Sunday after a lengthy illness. Services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, June 2, 2017 at Walker Funeral Service Chapel. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org) Lloyd was born May 9, 1931 in Drumright, Oklahoma to Harvey N. Wilburn and Leona (Neal) Wilburn. He graduated from Seminole High School and attended Seminole Jr. College. He served in the 45th Infantry during the Korean War where he was a medic. On May 31, 1953 he married the love of his life Helen R. (O’Neal) in Seminole. Lloyd went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company as a lineman and retired after 33 years as a District Manager. He was a member of the SWB Pioneers. He loved traveling and taking pictures. Lloyd and Helen traveled to 48 states. He also enjoyed his grandsons and attended all their school functions. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, 2 brothers: Norman and Harrold Wilburn, and a sister: Opal Jane Beauford. Survived by: 2 Sons: Dennis Wilburn of Shawnee, Steve Wilburn and wife Tammy of Shawnee; 2 Grandsons: Tyler Wilburn and wife Kaylee of Shawnee, Blaine Wilburn of Edmond; and several nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
