Lorna K. (Lee) Blochowiak passed comfortably on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at 11:50 am at St. Anthony’s Hospital in OKC from kidney failure. She was surrounded by her husband, brother, daughters, their families, and her friends.
Lorna was born in OKC at Capitol Hill General Hospital, to James Hollis Lee and Edwinna (Attebery) (Lee) Wittman. She attended Hayes Elementary School. Later, the family moved to McLoud where she attended school for a time and graduated from Dale High School. There, she was a basketball team member and also participated in the junior play. After high school, she worked at Cook’s department store, then Tinker AFB as a key punch operator. Just before getting married, she quit Tinker to become a full-time housewife and mom.
On July 12, 1973, she married Peter J. Blochowiak, Jr. Their first child, Angela K. was born in 1974. The next year their second, Shelly Elaine was born. The family started in Shawnee on Dewey Street and in 1976, they moved to their present location at 1 Waunda Drive on Highway 102.
In her early years, when she lived in the Dale area, Lorna attended Hazel Dell Church. Lorna attended Blackburn Chapel for some time where she worked as a Sunday School teacher. Later, she joined New Beginnings Church from its start in an old abandoned storefront in a strip mall where she worked as a Sunday School teacher. Later, she helped the church move into an old abandoned paint warehouse located on the property of the present new building. At the time of her passing, she was a member of New Beginnings, which is now at 1203 E. 42nd Street in Shawnee.
Lorna was preceded in death by one brother, Ronald Lee, her parents, step-father, Dale Wittman, and maternal and paternal grandparents.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Peter J. Blochowiak, Jr., daughters, Angela and Shelly, brothers, Mike, Victor, and Kendal Lee, sisters, Judy (Janell) Aguirre and Carla Craig, and six grandchildren.
Lorna enjoyed fishing, bike riding, basketball, tennis, and bowling. She was a great mother and wife. She took the role of wife, mother, and homemaker very seriously. She was always there for her kids and grandkids: playing, laughing, aiding in need, and offering guidance. She always made sure they had a birthday and Christmas present every year. She helped make sure they had good clothes to start school and gas money when they got older. She cooked like the best of grandmas ensuring everyone was well fed. She was the spiritual advisor and leader of the family and will be missed very much. Her passing has left a great void; impossible to fill. Her family and friends will miss her very much.
Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at Walker Funeral & Cremation Service on Thursday and Friday, November 14th and 15th from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm with family present to greet friends from 5-7 pm both evenings.
A celebration of life service will be held at New Beginnings, 1203 E. 42nd Street, Shawnee, on Friday, November 22, 2024 at 6:00 pm. All who attend will be invited and encouraged to share their memories of Lorna. It will be hosted by her husband and daughters.
