Margaret L. Morris

Margaret Morris died, Oct 21, 2023, at her residence in Homestead Assisted Living in Del City, Oklahoma. She was 81.

Margaret was born in Jena, LA on July 30, 1942, to Marvin L. and Nancy E. Richmond. She married William (Bill) V. Morris on Dec 13, 1958, in Shawnee at Wesley United Methodist Church. Not long after their marriage, Bill, serving for the USAF, was deployed overseas and Margaret lived in Shawnee with her mother to finish high school. She graduated from Shawnee High School in 1960.

Margaret was a military spouse for 22 years until her husband's retirement from the USAF in 1979. During this time, she worked tirelessly to make every station home for her husband and children. The Morrises settled in Shawnee upon Bill's retirement, where Margaret lived until 2019. Margaret had a heart for working with handicapped children and adults. She worked at Faith 7 School for many years before going to work for South Central Sheltered Workshop until her retirement. At her husband's death in 1996, she was a member of Wallace Avenue Baptist Church in Shawnee. After her move to the Oklahoma City area, she attended Grace Place Baptist Church for a short time when her health allowed.

Margaret was an avid reader and always had a book in hand; her favorite authors were Louis L'Amour, Dick Francis, and J.D. Robb. One of her greatest joys was sharing her love of reading with her granddaughters as they simultaneously read through the Harry Potter books as soon as they were published. She loved her granddaughters beyond measure. She delighted in watching them grow up and become beautiful young women, wives, and mothers themselves. Margaret was thankful and blessed beyond measure when her granddaughters each had baby boys and made her a great-grandmother. The love and joy shining from her eyes as she met Hank in 2022 and Griffin in 2023 was beyond measure.

Survivors include a son, Billy Vic Morris; a daughter and son-in-law, Kristi and Thomas Leinneweber of Newalla; her granddaughters and their spouses, Jenna and Aaron Condreay of Oklahoma City, OK and Kayla and Justin Brittain of South Bend, IN; her great-grandsons Hank Condreay and Griffin Brittain; her brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Diane Richmond of Panama City, FL; her sister-in-law, Carolyn Richmond of Edmond, OK; her nieces, Diane Lacy, Kathy Crow, Melissa Cuesta, and Jennifer Thayer; and one nephew, Roone Richmond.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, D’Lisa Morris, her parents, and her brother, Curtis Richmond.

A memorial ceremony will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Grace Place Baptist Church, 9300 S. Anderson Road, Oklahoma City, OK, 73165 with Pastor Robby Roberson officiating.
