Margie Fowler

Margie (Newnam) Fowler was born on the family homestead near Chandler, Oklahoma, to Tom and Ola Mae Newnam on June 24, 1935 and was welcomed into the waiting arms of her Savior on February 14, 2025 at the age of 89.

A long time resident of Meeker, Oklahoma, Margie graduated from Meeker High School in 1953. On May 23, 1953 Margie married her soulmate, Winfred Fowler; together they spent 63 years farming, raising their family and serving the Lord. Margie and Winfred were blessed with three children, seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. Margie was talented in so many ways: she made the best iced tea, crafted exquisite cakes, raised beautiful gardens, pruned and grafted her fruit trees, loved to sing, sewed countless pieces of clothing, helped work cattle, and could help deliver a calf if necessary, she wrote letters and cards of encouragement in her stunning handwriting and crocheted special blankets for every tiny addition to the family. Margie was an active member of Meeker First Christian Church where she led children’s music, as well as the adult choir, taught Bible School and kept the Sunday School records. Of all the accomplishments in her life, Margie was most proud of her family. She loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and all the in-laws deeply; she was immensely proud of each one.

Margie is survived by her three children, Karen Manning and husband Gary, Ruth Simpson and husband Paul, and Virgil Fowler and wife Rebecca; seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, Kasey Manning; Kelsey Burton, her husband Beau and children Lydia, Meredith and Everly; Matthew Simpson, his wife Lindsay and children Charles and Lola Burland and Alexander Simpson; Marcie Simpson and children Brady and Hazel Wahpepah; Mark Simpson, his wife Kelli and children Cole and Haley; Kristina McAnally, her husband Matt and son Isaac; Brian Fowler, his wife Jean and daughter Isla. As well as treasured nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Margie is preceded in death by her husband, Winfred Fowler, one great-grandson, Lane McAnally, parents, Tom and Ola Mae Newnam, brothers, Tommy Newnam and Carl Newnam, as well as, sisters, Hazel Baker, Zola Zinn, and Evelyn Fowler.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made, in Margie’s memory, to Meeker First Christian Church, 504 Loy Street, Meeker, OK 74855.
