Marjorie Caldwell Henson

Marjorie Caldwell Henson passed from this earth June 1, 2018, in American Canyon, CA, at the age of 99 1/2 years old. She was born in Winfield, AL on November 22, 1918, one of seven children born to William Alfred and Maud Lee Webster. At age six, she and her family boarded the train for a new life in Oklahoma. In high school, she excelled at basketball and during one game scored 42 points, a record for her team at Paoli High School. After graduation from East Central State College, she taught school in Garvin and McClain Counties for 44 years, including 32 years at Washington Grade School, Washington, OK before retiring in 1984. She was a lifelong member of the Baptist Church.Marjorie was preceded in death by her first husband of 25 years, George Robert Caldwell of Washington, OK, her second husband of 23 years, Almon E. Henson of Shawnee, OK and son-in-law William Wesley Romine of Mare Island, CA. Marjorie is survived by her sister, Mary Mauldin, Oklahoma City, OK, her daughters, Betty Romine, Mare Island, CA and Robbie Grimes, Houston, TX; grandchildren Van Romine, Upland, CA, Aleta Duman, Houston, TX and Malissa Amundson, Allen, TX, and great grandchildren, Meryem Duman and Eren Duman, Houston, TX and Sophia Amundson, Allen, TX. She is remembered with love by Almon Henson’s children, son, Roger Henson and wife Robbie Henson, and daughter, Karen Henson Marshall and husband Jim Marshall, all of Shawnee, OK; as well as Almon’s grandchildren, Benjamin Henson and Anna Beth Henson of Grand Rapids, MI, Kimberly Jenson and husband Jordan Jenson of Oklahoma City, OK, Scott Marshall of Norman, OK, Rebecca Henson-Matthews and husband Nick Matthews of Wellington, New Zealand, Jason Henson and Michael Henson of Christchurch, New Zealand.Visitation will be at Walker Funeral Home, Shawnee, OK on June 14, 2018, from 6:30 to 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on June 15, 2018 at 10 o’clock in Shawnee, OK at the First Baptist Church with interment at 2:00 pm at Paoli Cemetery, Paoli, OK, with Rev. Glen Pence officiating. All who knew her are welcome to attend.
