With deep sadness and abiding love, we announce that Mary Dora (Walker) Kaskuske, affectionately known as “Blondie,” made her journey home on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at the age of 78. She passed peacefully in Saucier, Mississippi, where she had made her home for several years. Mary was a proud enrolled tribal member of the Sac and Fox Nation of Oklahoma.
Born on October 2, 1946, to Willard Sr. and Henrietta (Bentley) Walker, Mary lived a life marked by service, devotion, and joy. She graduated from Riverside Indian School and later attended Seminole State College. Her passion for helping others shown through her work as a dispatcher for the Iowa Tribal Police Department and as a Home Healthcare provider—roles she truly loved.
Mary’s adventurous spirit thrived in life’s simple pleasures. She enjoyed camping along the Illinois River in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, visiting Little Niagara in Sulphur, Oklahoma, and attending the Choctaw Nation Labor Day Festival, where she delighted in performances by legendary artists such as Smokey Robinson, Gladys Knight, and Chubby Checker. A devoted member of the Kickapoo Chapter of the Native American Church, Mary’s faith and generosity left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered.
Mary is survived by her loving daughter, Teri Allen, and her husband, Carl, of Saucier, Mississippi; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Christian and Patience Tiger, with children Alyssa, Maleah, Bryndly, Michael, and Royal Colton and Aubry Haney, with daughter Azayzah Connor and Briana Haney, with daughter Calleigh Allister and Maria Harrison Rex B. Harrison IV, with children Ezavin, Jaxston, and Zariah Skylar Harrison, with daughter TeLeila. She is also survived by her beloved sisters, Lela and Catherine Walker, of McLoud, Oklahoma.
Mary is reunited with her husband, Leon Kaskuske Sr.; her son, Rex Harrison III; her parents, Willard Sr. and Henrietta Walker; and her brothers, Leroy, Henry, Leonard, Bennie, James, Willard Jr., Marlin, and Forrest Walker.
Services were held at the Walker homeplace in McLoud, Oklahoma. A Native American Church service took place on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, followed by burial on Wednesday, February 12, 2025.
The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to the Sac and Fox Nation of Oklahoma, William “Bill” Ford, and the many family members and friends who provided comfort through kind words, warm embraces, covered dishes, thoughtful calls, messages, donations, and prayers. Your support during this time of sorrow has been a tremendous blessing. May you, too, be blessed in your everyday walk of life.
