Shawnee resident Mary Margaret Lawson, 85, passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at her home.

 

Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Prague Church of God Chapel (348402 Hwy 62). Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Monark National Campground or Africa Mission and Beyond or India-Pakistan Missions.

Mary was born December 13, 1938 in Webb City, Missouri to Paul Alexander Lawson and Glenna (Taylor) Lawson. She spent her childhood in Missouri and West Virginia but later moved to California. While in California she worked for General Dynamics and was very involved in politics and worked on many campaigns. She also enjoyed following the Brooklyn Dodgers and U.C.L.A. athletics. She later moved to Oklahoma and began a life of ministry in the Church of God. She traveled to many states to preach and share the word of God.  If asked how she was doing, she would reply “I am blessed!”.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters: Anna Mae Koller and June Carrick, and a brother: Tommy Lawson.

 

Survivors include a sister: Debbie Lawson of CA, and several cousins, nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
