Mary Ann Paulsen

August 7, 1929 — June 4, 2020

Mary Ann Paulsen, age 90 of Shawnee died Thursday, June 4, 2020 in a local hospital.

Services will be Monday June 8, 2020 at Walker Funeral Service Chapel at 9:00 A.M. with Rev. Tony Peak officiating.

Burial will be at 1:00 P.M. in Canton Cemetery in Canton, Oklahoma.

Mary Ann was born to Roy and Mary (Vandenburg) Folsom in Hydro, Oklahoma on August 7, 1929. She graduated from Hydro High School, received a Bachelor's Degree from Phillips University and a Masters in Education from East Central University. First Mary Ann was a music teacher, then later a teacher in Special Education and ended being a teacher in Elementary Education. Mary Ann made it her life's work to obtain good care, education, sheltered workshops, and all around great quality of life for all developmentally disabled individuals. She worked tirelessly with the state legislature to improve the state aid to those affected persons, of whom one is her son Larry Lindsay.

Mary Ann married Edward Paulsen on August 19, 1995 and he precedes her in death, also, her parents and a brother Roy Folsom, Jr.

Mary Ann greatly loved being involved in the family holidays, picnics and the extra-curricular activities of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by: Larry Lindsay, Carol Schovanec (Butch), Alice Tomlin (Scott), Phillip Paulsen (Denise), Christy Davis (Lee), Erik Paulsen, Steve Paulsen, Laura Roddy (Justin); sisters-in-law: Dorothy Folsom and June Paulsen; 11 grandchildren 9 great- grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
