Shawnee resident Mary Spaulding, 78, passed away Thursday, June 1, 2017 at her home.Services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, June 5, 2017 at Walker Funeral Service Chapel with Robert Scrutchins officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.Mary was born June 10 1938 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to Bill and Mary Ellen Lazenby. She graduated from Shawnee High School in 1955 and then graduated from Austin College. She married Richard Dee Spaulding on August 27, 1960. She taught in Alamo, TX, moved to Shawnee in 1976 and taught at Will Rogers and Sequoyah where she retired in 1998. She volunteered at the North Rock Creek library and attended all their home sporting activities, going to Josh’s soccer games and watching Kim barrel race. She enjoyed spending time outside with her blue bonnets, watching her great grandchildren Hayden and Paisley run around, going with Sheryl to fencing tournaments across the state and going to craft shows with Valerie. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Richard. Survivors include 2 Daughters: Sheryl Gowin and husband Rick, Valerie Kimer and husband Steve, Grandson: Josh Kimer and Cassidy Bender, Granddaughter: Kim Haney and husband Jordan, 2 Great-Grandchildren: Paisley Kimer and Hayden Haney, 1 Sister: Virginia Lazenby and husband Don Harper, And several nieces, nephews, and cousins, and extended N.R.C. family.
