Shawnee resident Carol Wakolee Mills, 67, passed away Sunday, July 21, 2019 at home after a long illness with her husband David at her side. Services will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday, July 25, 2019 at the Sac and Fox Chapel in Stroud. Burial will follow at Prague Cemetery under the direction of Walker Funeral Service. She was born May 18, 1952 in Pawnee, Oklahoma to Glade Wakolee and Rachel (Dirt) Wakolee the last of 8 children. She was a member of the Sac and Fox Tribe. Her father was Sac and Fox and her mother was Absentee Shawnee. Carol was Full Blood American Indian. She was very proud of her Indian heritage. She had written records of many family members who have passed on and enjoyed family history. Carol attended and graduated from Oklahoma School for the Deaf in Sulphur, OK in 1972. Carol was a home body, loved taking care of her home, flowers, and yard. She also raised Chihuahua dogs and loved tending to them. Survivors include her husband: David Mills of the home,Brother: Bernard Wakole and wife Sharon of Stuart,Niece: Carmen Wakole Ellis,Great-Nephew: John William Ellis of Ada,Niece: JoAnn Fixico of Sapulpa,Nephews: Donald Fixico of AZ,Chip and Jeff Pappan of Ponca City,And numerous cousins and relatives.She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters: Virginia Fixico, Jean Pappan, brothers: Gaylon Wakolee, Dewayne Wakolee, and two infant siblings, as well as nephews: Brian Wakolee, Ronald and Gerald Fixico, Wendell and Stephen Pappan, and nieces: Mary and Loretta Pappan.
