Maxine Virginia Sexton

Maxine Virginia Sexton, 98, of Shawnee, died Monday, February 1, 2021 in Oklahoma City. Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. Friday, February 5, 2021 in Green Hill Cemetery, Muskogee, OK. Maxine was born December 4, 1922 in Porum, Oklahoma to Sheridan B. and Pearl Lee (Dunn) Dandridge. She only went to school through the 8th grade, because her father said all she needed to know was how to cook, clean and raise kids. On January 1, 1944 she married Ivan Talmage Sexton. She was a Mother and a homemaker, as well as working 26 years in housekeeping at Shawnee Medical Center. Even at 95, Maxine said she would like to go back to work…she loved her job. She was a member of Johnson Road Church of God. She is survived by one son: Ronald Gene Sexton and his wife Leslie Ann Sexton of Okla City; one daughter: Paulette Sexton Newby of Midwest City; 3 sisters: Jeanie Kern and Dorothy Jeffries, both of Bakersfield, CA, and Martha Yancy of Boulder, CO; one brother: Harold Dandridge of San Diego, CA; 4 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
