Myler Glenn (Mike) Crooks, at the age of 87, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 10, 2018 in a local nursing center. He was born December 1, 1930 in Evansville, Indiana. At the age of two he moved to Detroit, Michigan with his parents Myler G. and Ella Crooks, Sister; Barbara Crooks and Grandparents, where he attended school, graduating from Royal Oak High School in January 1949.Services will be Thursday, June 14, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. at Living Love Christian Center, with Rev. Mark Guinn officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery.In February 1949 he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force for three years with his first assignment at Sheppard Field in Texas and then to Japan and Korea. Over the years he would alternate between civilian life and military tours of duty in Okinawa, Vietnam, Thailand, Tennessee, Kansas, Virginia and Oklahoma. Portions of his military life was with the Air National Guard, retiring in December of 1990 as a M/SGT with a total of 32 years of service.Mike worked at Tinker Field as a machinist for over 10 years retiring in 1992. He then worked part time for several years as an aircraft instructor at Gordon Cooper Technology Center at the John Bruton Location.On February 19, 1967 he was married in Shawnee to his true love Mary M. Butts Yott. On February 14, 1969 they became adoptive parents to a month old darling baby girl they named Holly Darlene Crooks.In 1974 the Crooks family moved back to Shawnee from Virginia and have resided here since that time.For over 30 years Mike and Mary were members of Downtown Pentecostal Holiness Church, later attending Praise Assembly, Oak Park Church of God, and the past seven years at Living Love Christian Center and were active in all the Churches, Missions, Royal Rangers, Teaching Sunday School and Senior Ministry was what Mike loved.The world has lost a wonderful man and heaven has gained a true child of God.He was preceded in death parents, Sister: Barbara Lowe, Father and Mother-in-law: Reuben and Bernice Butts, Brothers-in-law: James, Clinton & Johnny Butts, George Meneely and Jack Dean; Sisters-in-law: Alma D.
