Nim Hayes, 92, of Shawnee, died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2017 at his home. He was born to Jim and Mary Hayes. He grew up in the McLoud/Dale area. He was one of seven children and all are deceased. He married Thelma Hayes on March 4, 1946 to which 3 sons were born. Nim enlisted into the U.S. Navy on November 18, 1942 and served until December 9, 1945. He lived in California and worked for Goodyear for 16 years before moving to Oklahoma. He worked for Roy Marler Construction for 8 years in the 70’s and then Barton Valve for 20 years. After his retirement, the Wood Group who bought Barton Valve would have him come in and train their new machinists. Nim and Thelma enjoyed traveling to Laughlin and Las Vegas to the casinos. He also loved to watch Roy and Bobby play softball. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Roy and Susan Hayes, grandchildren Roy Hayes Jr., Cindy Hayes, Cody Cullison, Bobbie Lee, Nimbo Hayes, Patty Tucker, Carla and Misty, and numerous great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Hayes, parents Jim and Mary Hayes, Brothers David Frank Hayes, Bobby Lee Hayes, and Grandchildren Sheila and Dustin.Services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 29 at Walker Funeral Service Chapel with Ken Kerbo officiating. Burial will follow in Dale Cemetery.
