Norma Rebecca Higdon

Norma Rebecca Higdon, resident of McLoud, OK passed away on Thursday, February 3, 2022. She was 98 years old. Norma was born on November 25, 1923 in McLoud to her parents, Anvil Lee Summers and Doretha “Dot” Summers. She grew up in McLoud and graduated from McLoud High School. After graduation, she attended business school in Oklahoma City and later worked at Tinker Air Force Base. She married Lelon Higdon on November 2, 1946 and soon became a full time mother while also working on the family’s dairy farm. Once her children were grown, she began working as a secretary at McLoud Elementary School from 1966 until her retirement in 1992. Norma enjoyed spending time with her family and especially enjoyed attending all of the grandchildren’s school functions and sporting events. Norma was a perpetual member of the Eastern Star and a faithful member of the McLoud Church of Christ. Norma was preceded in death by her parents, Anvil and Dot Summers, husband, Lelon Higdon, brother, Corky Summers, and infant son, Robert Brightman. Norma is survived by her sons, William Butch Higdon of the home, Paul Higdon and wife Jane of McLoud, and Gary Higdon and wife Beverly of Mustang, OK, grandchildren, Paul Allen Higdon and wife Stephanie of Oklahoma City, Susan Boyer and husband Kevin of McLoud, Jimmy Higdon of McLoud, Scott Higdon of Mustang, Karie McKinley and husband Gerad of McLoud, Shannon Higdon and wife Kristi of McLoud, and Jeff Nolen, 14 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. A funeral ceremony for Norma will be held on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at 2:00 pm at the McLoud Church of Christ. Following the ceremony, she will be laid to rest next to her husband at Dale Cemetery. Casketbearers will be: Paul A. Higdon, Scott Higdon, Shannon Higdon, Jimmy Higdon, Gerad McKinley, Kevin Boyer, and Jeff Nolen. Viewing will be held at Walker Funeral & Cremation Service on Monday, February 7th (8am-6pm) and Tuesday, February 8th (8am-6pm).
