Norma Marie Luis

Norma Marie Luis, 90, passed from this life to her heavenly home on Thursday, July 11, 2019 in Norman, OK. Norma was born February 12, 1929 in Ponca City, OK to Florian Glaser and Elnora (Buellesfeld) Glaser.  She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Ponca City, where she met the love of her life Harold Luis. Upon his return from his service in WWII, Harold and Norma were married on February 12, 1948 and soon after settled in Shawnee, OK.  Norma was an active member of St. Benedict’s Catholic Church.  She enjoyed serving as a Eucharistic minister and preparing meals for the church’s various activities.  Norma enjoyed cooking for her family and friends.  She loved to sew and to vacation at the lake with Harold and her family.  She was also an avid gardener.  Norma was proud of her family and loved spending time with them.  She loved to help others in any way she could. Norma’s faith in God was instrumental in the life she lived.

Norma is survived by her children Connie and Charley Rutherford of Shawnee, Edward and Theresa Luis of OKC, Kathleen and Richard Carter of Shawnee, and Patti Luis of Moore; her grandchildren, Christy Rutherford of Shawnee, Jill and Michael Keiper of Dallas, TX, Jason and Becky Gray of Shawnee, Jarod and Tandi Gray of Shawnee, Paige Mann of Moore, Sarah and Zach Thompson of Moore, and Scott Luis of Norman; and great-grandchildren Connor Gray, Liam Gray, Lucas Gray and Reed Thompson.

She was preceded in death by her husband Harold Luis, her parents Florian and Elnora Glaser; brothers Jim Glaser and Leo Glaser; and sisters Gerry Howard, Joan Davis, Rita Adams, and Leanna Glaser.

A Rosary will be held Sunday July 14 at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church at 6 PM.  Funeral service for Norma Luis will be at 10AM, Monday July 15 at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church, 632 N. Kickapoo Ave., Shawnee, OK.
