Manning, Othalee E. (Anoatubby), age 92, resident of Shawnee, Oklahoma passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2022, in Shawnee.
Friends and loved ones may pay their respects at the funeral home from 8am-6pm on Thursday, March 31, 2021. A Celebration of Othalee's Life will be held in the Chapel at Walker Funeral & Cremation Service 10:00 am Friday, April 1, 2022 with Pastor Monte Dean of Aydelotte Baptist Church officiating. Following the Celebration Ceremony, Othalee will be laid to rest at Dale Cemetery next to her beloved husband Clarence. The ceremony at the funeral home will be streamed at the Facebook page for Walker Funeral & Cremation Service.
Othalee was born March 24, 1930, in Tishomingo, Oklahoma to Joseph and Opal Anoatubbby. On Feb. 9. 1948, Othalee married Clarence Manning in Gainesville, TX. They celebrated 55 years of marriage before his passing in 2003.
Faith was important to Othalee. Aydelotte Baptist Church has been her home church for decades. Her faithfulness in prayer is noted in a journal kept for over 40 years detailing her petitions on behalf of her family, church family, and friends.
Throughout her life, Othalee was a proud member of the Chickasaw Nation, being recognized as an Elder amongst Chickasaw Nation members. A painting of her and her brother adorns the wall of the Chickasaw Cultural Center and Othalee's story is featured in the book Listening To Our Elders.
Survivors include her daughters Barbara Hawk and husband Larry of Shawnee, Wanda King and Husband James, and Anona McCullar, all of Shawnee; siblings: Bill Anoatubby and wife Janice of Ada, OK, Gene Anoatubby and wife Phyllis of Stratford, OK, R. L. Anoatubby of Ardmore, OK, and Ted Anoatubby of Oklahoma City; grandchildren: Dedra Johnson and husband Brian of Shawnee, OK, Michael W. Hawk of Richardson, TX, Jennifer Murray and husband Bill of Maryland, Michelle Johnson and husband Doug of Arizona, and Matthew King of Shawnee, great grandchildren: Ethan, Ryan, Devin, Christian, Brandon, and Isabella as well as many additional beloved family members and friends.
Othalee is preceded in death by her parents, husband Clarence and sister Joan Manning.
