Reva Jean Derk

Reva Jean Derk, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, graced this world with her presence from April 28, 1948, until her departure on September 29, 2024. Born in Orange, Texas to James Claude and Lora Marie Lagrone, she carried with her a warm and kind-hearted spirit, one that touched the lives of all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Reva's journey through life was characterized by her unwavering dedication to her family, especially her deep devotion to her four sons whom she cherished dearly.

Reva's career as a cashier and her role in inventory control at Homeland Grocery showcased her commitment to providing excellent service to her community. But above her professional achievements, it was her role as a mother and grandmother that brought her the greatest joy and sense of accomplishment. The birth of her four sons marked a time of fulfillment for Reva, and she radiated pride in the families they created. Her seven grandchildren were the lights of her life, and she embraced every opportunity to share in their joys and milestones.

An avid crafter, Reva's passions extended to cross-stitch and needlepoint, that allowed her to express her creativity. To those who encountered her, Reva was more than just a mother or grandmother; she was a friend who never met a stranger, embodying kindness in every interaction.

Reva is survived by her loving husband, Daniel Allen Derk, who stood by her side throughout their journey together; her devoted sons, Robert Derk and wife Rhonda, Steven Derk and wife Machille, Gary Derk and wife Amber, and William Derk and wife Tammy; grandkids, Karter, Maurine, Addison, Spencer, Patrick, Owen, and Sarah. The family finds solace in the memories shared and celebrating the remarkable woman that Reva was.

Reva was preceded in death by her parents, James and Lora Lagrone; siblings, brothers Jerry Lagrone and Jim Lagrone, as well as sisters Faye McGee and Johnnie Louella Granger, all of whom surely welcomed her with open arms.

A memorial service to honor Reva’s life will be held on Friday, October 4, 2024, at 10:00 am at Walker Funeral Chapel. Family and friends are invited to come together to celebrate the beautiful legacy of love she leaves behind.
