Richard Blemmel was born in Seminole, OK on March 4, 1943 and went to be with his Heavenly Father on March 2, 2025. Richard spent many days in his early childhood on the family farm in Davenport, OK; a land obtained the day after the 1889 Land Run in a trade for a one-eyed mule. He later lived in Oklahoma City before settling in McLoud, OK in 1974 where he found great joy in his acreage, dedicating countless hours to maintaining and improving his home and land. It was here that he resided until his death.
In April of 1962, Richard met the love of his life, Pasty Harrington, at the Dairy Boy. He often joked that she fed him a rotten hamburger, but he returned time and again for chocolate malts. Their relationship flourished and they married on July 1, 1966. Together, they shared 58 years and 8 months of love, laughter, and companionship.
Richard proudly served in the Army and Army National Guard. He was a proud veteran who loved his country. After his military service, Richard worked for Capital Steel and Iron and later Lucent Technologies, where he retired after 30 years of dedicated service.
Richard was a loving and devoted son, brother, husband, dad, papa, and uncle. He was known for his love of fishing, hunting, gardening, traveling, and the enjoyment of going to estate and garage sales. He was very involved with the Chickasaw Nation Elders and enjoyed participating in different events with the group. He found joy in the simple things, often spending his time tinkering and piddling around his home. He was always ready to go fishing with his fishing pole on standby, waiting for anyone who wanted to join him.
Richard was preceded in death by his father, Charlie Blemmel, mother, Marie Newman Blemmel, half-brother, Clarence Jones, sister, Dora Burger, brother, Walter Blemmel, sister, Peggy Brumley, and brother, Earl Blemmel.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Patsy Blemmel, daughter, Kimberly Catchings and husband Robbie, grandson, Cody Catchings, brother, Jerry Blemmel, 10 nieces, 13 nephews, and many great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
